Failed 2-Point Conversion Leaves Rams Short of Win

By Amy Bearden
The Rams got off to another rough start last week and trailed Gatesville at the half 30-13. However they managed to shutout the Hornet’s offense the entire second half and with less than a minute to play in the fourth quarter, Mineral Wells trailed by seven points.
Quarterback Mason Facteau connected with Preztynn Harrison in the end zone for a touchdown and the Rams pulled to within one. A two-point conversion would seal the win.
Ram fans were on their feet as the play began and just as it looked like the team would get it done, Payton Light was brought down just inches from the goal line. Heartbreaking is an understatement! The fans and the players were stunned as the excitement of a last minute comeback was quickly deflated. A final score of 30-29 moves the Rams to a 3-3 record on the season.
If the second half of the game is any indication of the potential the Rams hold, even the biggest critics could see moments of brilliance. With 70% passes completed and 279 yards rushing this week, the second-half play by the Rams looked like a team to contend with, despite the loss, but he Rams will need to find a way to show up for both halves of the game as they enter district play this week. Wichita Falls High comes to town with a 3-3 record as well.
