FTLG Radio Show’s Brian Shoemaker and Bobby Mori and MWAN Publisher Amy Bearden during halftime of MW/Springtown Game

I was honored to join the guys during halftime of the For the Love of the Game Radio broadcast of the Ram football game in Springtown.

Radio Announcer Bobby Mori and I talked all about Mineral Wells Area News and chatted about our favorite community for the better part of 20 minutes.

During the interview Mori asked me what makes a nonprofit news outlet different from a traditional newspaper?

I said the biggest difference was us being crowd-funded and not relying heavy on advertising revenue. Which of course is true….but really there is something obviously even more important and distinguishable that I failed to mention.

No Paywall!

That’s correct. You will never pay to read our news. Our content is always free and funded by the generosity of the people who read our stories.

We are a 501c3 under the umbrella of The Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) where we are a part of a network 2500 journalists and 400 news organizations keeping local communities informed about the issues that matter.

Your donations to MWAN funds the operation of maintaining a local reliable news source for the community.

MWAN understands news can change quickly and with that, we are adapting with the times and will never offer a printed newspaper. However every story can be printed.

We are 100% digital so staying up-to-date and current means our readers won’t have to wait a week for the latest details about a story. On-line publications can move news faster further.

How Can You Help Us??

Remember, we operate on funds donated by our readers. If you have enjoyed the news coverage we have been sharing for more than a year now, would you consider a donation?

We are super excited to begin ramping up our NewsMatch program and in November and December any donations made to us in that time frame will be doubled by The Knight Foundation.

This is HUGE and means we can double our donations in such a short time. We are gearing up to share a new donation link that will give us real time access to the funds you contribute. Stripe will soon be managing our donation platform and it will be much easier than in the past to donate. Stay tuned and get ready for even more great stories coming out of our community that you don’t want to miss.

In the meantime, Be sure you subscribe to our emails so you don’t miss a single story. And if you are ready to donate now, feel free to send us money via our Venmo below.

Thanks again for always supporting and sharing our content. It takes a village to raise a newspaper. And together, we are making it happen!!

It takes a Village and Your Generosity!!
