Gunshot Victim Shows Up to County Hospital After MWPD Investigate “Shots Fired” Call

At approximately 07:50 am on December 18, 2022, Officers with the Mineral Wells Police
Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of SE 8th Street about a shots fired call. The caller advised Mineral Wells Dispatch that a male was possibly shot, fell to the ground, and then took off running. Officers arrived, secured the scene, and did not find any injured person(s) at the location.

Shortly after the shots fired call was received, Palo Pinto General Hospital called and reported a gunshot victim in the emergency room seeking treatment. A witness was interviewed at the hospital. The male victim, in his 30s, was transported to a nearby trauma hospital; his condition is unknown at this time.


At the original scene, evidence was collected, and witnesses were interviewed. The Mineral Wells Police Department is waiting for additional forensic evidence to be returned from the lab. This is an open and ongoing investigation. At this time, there have not been any arrests made. Once all the evidence is produced and analyzed, charges may be filed.
