Older Man Injured in Whataburger Fight Passes Away, MWPD Awaits Autopsy Reprt;Go Fund Me Set Up for Funeral

MWAN has learned that Doug Warren, a 60-year-old Mineral Wells man, has died from injuries he sustained after being involved in an altercation at Whataburger on December 18.

MWPD Public Information Officer, Darby Thomas told MWAN they are waiting for information regarding the autopsy.

“We have been in contact with the medical examiner, and because of the holidays they are several days behind. We will wait for those results and consult with the DA on our next steps moving forward. I have been in contact with the family and keeping them advised of what’s going on,” said Thomas.

Warren has been in ICU at a Fort Worth hospital since the incident and according to family members, Warren has died from his injuries. A Go Fund Me for Doug Warren account has been established to help pay for his burial.

On the night the fight occurred, two men were detained by the crowd as the altercation came to an end and were later arrested and charged in the late night argument. There is no indication from law enforcement as to what led up to the fight.

31-year-old Ryan Cyle Hill is charged with Aggravated Assault causing bodily injury and was released on a $75,000 bond. Ryan Tanner Woodring, is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and was released on a $5000 bond. Both men charged in the incident are also from Mineral Wells.

Two local men are charged with assaulting a man at Whataburger on December 18. The man has passed away from his injuries.
