County Names New Emergency Management Coordinator

The Palo Pinto County Commissioner’s met in executive session on October 23rd and appointed a new, or not so new, Emergency Management Coordinator to the recently vacated position.
Palo Pinto County’s Chief Deputy Sheriff Chad Jordan was one of three candidates who applied for the job and was the final choice to be appointed to replace Ricky Hunter.

Hunter was hired for the job last January after retiring from a lengthy career with the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Commissioner’s Court had combined the positions of County Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Coordinator last year when he was hired.

Hunter was working towards his certification to officially take over the Fire Marshal side of the position, currently held by Jordan since 2013, but has decided to step back into law enforcement.

“I’ve submitted my resignation and my last day will be 10/27/2023. I’m going to be going back into the Community Supervision field as an officer in Parker County. It’s what I was doing before DPS,” said Hunter.

Jordan has worked for the County for almost twenty years and held Fire Marshal credentials for over ten. He will vacate his role as Chief Deputy Sheriff and assume his new role as Emergency Management Coordinator/County Fire Marshal on November 6th.
