Lady Rams advance in volleyball playoffs, will face Springtown

The Mineral Wells Lady Rams swept the Levelland Lobos 3-0 on Monday at Childress, claiming a Class 4A bi-district crown and advancing to the area round.
The Lady Rams improved to 26-11 on the year and will face the Springtown Lady Porcupines at Brock High School on Thursday. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
Mineral Wells won a hard-fought first set victory, 25-20, over the Lobos before taking a dominating second set by a score of 25-9. The Lady Rams put the match away with a 25-15 win in the third set.

Thursday’s area-round game in the Class 4A Regions 1 and 2 bracket will pair two evenly matched teams. With a 23-19 record overall, Springtown is ranked 42nd in the state by Maxpreps while the Lady Rams are ranked 49th.

Springtown enters Thursday’s game coming off a 3-0 sweep of their own in their bi-district match against Wichita Falls.
The Porcupines finished second in their district with an 8-3 record, compared to a 2-6 record and fourth-place finish for Mineral Wells in a very competitive district.


In neutral site games this year, Mineral Wells is 10-1, while Springtown is 11-9.
Against common opponents on the year, Mineral Wells is 4-5, compared to an 8-1 mark for Springtown.
