GORDON – As they did all season in steamrolling their way to an undefeated season culminating in the school’s third sixman state championship, the young Gordon Longhorns dominated post-season all-district, all-region and all-state honors.

Sophomore speedster Riley Reed was named All-State Overall MVP and State Game Offensive MVP. He also garnered Offensive Most Valuable Player and first team Defensive Utility Player in both Class 1A-1-District 9 and in Region III.
The Gordon coaching staff was named the top all-region and all-state coaching staff. Head coach Mike Reed collected his third sixman championship, having won back-to-back titles at Throckmorton. The other coaching staff members honored were Shad Reed, Ligon West, Jessie Hallmark, Michelle Reed, Benieta Carlton and Austin Kawamura.

Son of the head coach, sophomore Stryker Reed, was named Class 1A All-State Offensive MVP. He collected first team All-Region offensive utility back and safety honors and All-District first team spreadback and safety recognition.
While Stryker Reed is the son of Mike and Michelle Reed, Riley is the son of Shad and Keva Reed. The two families are unrelated, and each of the parents are employed by the district in classroom and administrative roles.
Gordon has lost just one game the last two seasons. The Horns went 15-0 this year, rolling through opponents. Gordon played into the second half just three times, and into the fourth quarter once, will 15 of their games ending via the sixman 45-point mercy rule.
The Horns defeated two-time defending champ Westbrook, 70-20, in the championship game on Dec. 13 at AT&T Stadium.
