13-YEAR-OLD TEEN SUSTAINED LIFE THREATING GUN SHOT WOUND

MINERAL WELLS, TEXAS – On 12/29/2023 at 0955 hours, The Mineral Wells Police Department and Mineral Wells Fire/EMS were dispatched to a residence in the 1600 block of NW 3d Ave., Mineral Wells, Texas. The initial call received by dispatch was regarding a male with a gunshot wound.

Officers and EMS arrived on scene to find a 13-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his head. There was a 10-year-old sibling in the residence at the time of the incident.

The victim was transported by air ambulance to a Hospital in Fort Worth in critical condition.

Detectives with the Mineral Wells Police Department were dispatched to the scene to interview witnesses and collect evidence. This is an ongoing investigation and Detectives are trying to learn how the child came into possession of the firearm or other circumstances and information regarding this incident.
