WILLOW PARK – The Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship’s top-ranked Community Christian Warriors suffered just their second loss of the season Friday after being stunned by Trinity Christian Academy, 58-51, in overtime.
CCS eighth-grader Josiah Marquez recorded a strong double-double for the Warriors, canning 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor while hauling in 20 rebounds.
His effort was supported by 11 points from Jonathan Blackburn, seven from Braden Maness and six points by David Blackburn. But it wasn’t enough for the Warriors, whose season record is now 19-2.
Community Christian and the Eagles were tied at 37 after three quarters, and 45 points each at the end of regulation. But the Eagles (5-13) took control in overtime, outscoring the Warriors 13-6 in the extra frame.

The Warriors went 0-for-7 from outside the arc, hitting 22 of their 41 attempts inside the three-point line. CCS had just 12 free throw shots, making seven of them.
CCS will try to shake off the surprising loss Tuesday when they host Dallas Academy (2-7, 0-1) in the District 5 opener for the Warriors. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start at City Gym.
