Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship’s No 1-ranked Community Christian School Warriors breezed through the Dallas Winston Tournament over the weekend, taking all three games to extend their win streak to 17.

The Warriors (19-1) opened the tournament Thursday with a win over Dallas Atlas Prep 67-51. They followed that with a 63-25 victory over UME Preparatory Academy before closing out the tournament Saturday with a win over Garland Christian Academy, 60-51.

Against Atlas Preparatory, five Warriors finished in double figures led by 14 from junior David Blackburn. Senior guard Price Horton poured in 13, followed by 11 points each from seniors Jonathan Blackburn and Braden Maness. Eighth grader Josiah Marquez canned 10, while Aiden Sipes just missed out on the double-digit fun with eight points.

Jonathan Blackburn turned in a double-double performance with 10 assists to go with his 11 points. The team was 15-of-19 from the free throw line and hauled down 46 rebounds, including 21 off the offensive glass.

Against UMEPA, the Warriors jumped out to a 21-9 lead in the opening frame and never looked back.

The Blackburn brothers led the way. Jonathan Blackburn turned in another double-double effort, scoring 16 points to go with 18 of the team’s 53 rebounds. He also had six assists and six steals. David Blackburn was the game’s top scorer with 18, followed by 12 from Price Horton.

Young Marquez led the charge in CCS’ win over GCA, dropping in 31 points on 13-of-22 shooting from the floor while pulling down 18 rebounds to record his double-double. Jonathan Blackburn added 17 points.

Through their first 20 games, Jonathan Blackburn is averaging a double-double with 16.2 points per game and 11.3 rebounds. Marquez is close to averaging a double-double per game with 11.3 points and 9.9 rebounds.

CCS returns to action Friday at Trinity Christian, its last game before beginning TCAF District 5 play Jan. 16 hosting Dallas Academy.
