Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,
I write in response to letters recently submitted that were critical of Representative Glenn Rogers. Palo Pinto County is fortunate to have a local resident that is willing to endure the shark infested political waters to represent and preserve our rural values. Representative Rogers has worked to secure our borders, preserve a free public education for children in Texas, preserve life and morals, and find a long term solution to ensure we have a sufficient supply of water.
Representative Rogers is not in a position to set water rates and can’t control the rates. He hosted a water summit to allow area leaders to hear several opinions and experts in order to give people the knowledge to plan for the current and future needs for water. Representative Rogers voted against bills that included school vouchers in order to preserve rural independent school districts. He has personally seen the trauma, danger, destruction, invasion, and economic stress caused by our border crisis. He is making the best choices for Palo Pinto County and Texas that are feasible.
Palo Pinto County is a rural area and many people are drawn to our lifestyle. People are moving into “our” area because of what they see. We need to pay attention and protect our way of life. We do not need to allow other people to make decisions for us. We cannot afford to sit back and let others become our voice. If that happens then they bring their problems to us and we become the areas they wanted to leave!
In politics, you can’t judge and condemn the record of those serving on minute details. You have to look at the whole picture. There is a reason for every vote that is cast during a legislative session. It is often necessary to vote a particular way because of riders attached to bills. Talk to Representative Rogers if you want to know what he believes and is trying to accomplish. I, for one, appreciate him being willing to subject himself to ridicule and harassment to represent me. Do not listen to accusations being hurled. Look for the truth and make your own informed decisions.
Sincerely,
Frana Patterson
