When I learned that Governor Abbott not only endorsed Mike Olcott for the HD-60 seat in the Texas House but will come to our community to campaign for him, I was disgusted.

First, consider everything Olcott has done and said to disparage Abbott. According to campaign finance reports, Olcott has donated TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to Abbott’s primary opponents in the past. He donated $25,500 to Donald Huffines failed attempt to unseat Abbott in 2022. (Side note – that amount of money is more than many people in our community make in a year!)

Once you consider the money, then consider the things that the Parker County Conservatives – the group founded and led by Olcott himself – have said about the Governor. They celebrated when other GOP organizations censured the Governor. The group proclaimed that Abbott did NOT “fight for conservative principles,” and therefore offered their group as a platform for far-right opponents to visit and bash the Governor. They even organized transport to the Governor’s mansion in Austin to protest in front of the Governor’s home. The list goes on.

Yet Governor Abbott has decided to endorse this man and his vile behavior. Why? Because Representative Glenn Rogers – holding the line for the best interest of OUR communities – could not and would not support the Governor’s push to implement a voucher system.

This is literally THE ONLY issue that Rep. Rogers has not been in lockstep with the Governor on.

In short, Governor Abbott, after enthusiastically and proudly endorsing Rep. Rogers in the past two elections, has decided to support someone who has zero respect and absolute disdain for him in the person of Mike Olcott.

It is clear that Gov. Abbott cares nothing for his own character and has truly embraced the political swamp culture.

I’m disgusted. But my support for Rep. Rogers has never been stronger. Please join me in casting your ballot for Glenn on March 5th.
