Parker County Officer Involved in Shooting

On January 30, 2024, at approximately 3:30 pm in the 300 block of Lipan Trail in southern Parker County, uniformed Parker County Sheriff’s deputies in marked patrol units attempted to serve a warrant for a weapons violation on Gary Donald Evans. Within seconds of approaching Evans, who was at the time hidden behind the raised hood of a vehicle parked in the driveway, he came around the vehicle with a handgun and began shooting at the approaching deputies. The three deputies immediately returned fire, shooting the suspect multiple times.
After Evans was immobilized deputies rendered lifesaving medical aid to him, including applying tourniquets to an arm and leg and a chest patch on a torso wound. Evans was flown by air ambulance to a Fort Worth hospital where he remains in critical condition. During the after-incident examination, it was discovered that one of the deputies had a bullet strike in one of his handgun magazines located on his duty belt. That deputy was later cleared by medical personnel at a local hospital.
Evans has been charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant with a deadly weapon.

Why is Parker county walking a warrant from another county? Hidalgo county to be exact. It was an unlawful carrying a weapon AKA: UCW. I understand being assisted by county of residence, though nothing is mentioned to not being a Parker county warrant. I’m concerned of this matter. I was a wife to Gary D. Evans , I know that at this moment in his life Gary must be mentally incompetent at this moment of his life. Gary has NEVER EVER ACTED OUT OF CHARACTER AS STATED.
