Palo Pinto County will be well-represented in Austin by Gordon, Graford and Strawn thinclads

Palo Pinto County’s Class 1A schools qualified a number of athletes, including 17 from Gordon, to compete May 2-4 at the University Interscholastic League’s state track and field meet taking place at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.

Neither Class 2A Santo nor Class 4A Mineral Wells recorded any state qualifiers.

Here is a rundown of the qualifying county track teams and individuals:

GORDON

• Girls 4×100-Meter Relay – Payton Reed (senior), Ava Hawkins (junior), Kaylee Maldonado (senior) and Gracie Lain (freshman). Third-fastest seed time of 51.78.

• Girls 100-Meter Hurdles – Payton Reed (senior). Ninth-best seed time of 17.39.

• Boys 110-Meter Hurdles – Stryker Reed (sophomore). Second-fastest seed time of 14.81; Kaden Crowe (sophomore). Seventh-fastest seed time of 16.05.

• Boys 100-Meter Dash – Riley Reed (sophomore). Event-fastest seed time of 10.74.

• Girls 4×200-Meter Relay – Ava Hawkins (junior), Abigail Kirkpatrick (freshman), Audrey Hawkins (freshman), Marley Jackson (freshman), Shayla Crowe (senior), Shelby Necessary (junior), Madelynn West (sophomore) and Samantha Kirkpatrick (senior). Sixth-fastest seed time of 1:52.61.

• Boys 4×200-Meter Relay – Riley Reed (sophomore), Kaden Crowe (sophomore), Asher Salinas (sophomore) and Brayden Walters (sophomore). Event-fastest seed time of 1:31.90.

• Boys 400-Meter Dash – Asher Salinas (sophomore). Fourth-fastest seed time of 51.13.

• Girls 300-Meter Hurdles – Gracie Lain (freshman). Event-fastest seed time of 47.76.

• Boys 300-Meter Hurdles – Stryker Reed (sophomore). Second-fastest seed time of 39.66.

• Girls 4×400-Meter Relay – Abigail Kirkpatrick (freshman), Ava Hawkins (junior), Marley Jackson (freshman), Gracie Lain (freshman), Shayla Crowe (senior), Payton Reed (junior), Madelynn West (sophomore) and Caitlyn Parsons (senior). Second-fastest seed time of 4:13.98.

• Boys 4×400-Meter Relay – Riley Reed (sophomore), Stryker Reed (sophomore), Brayden Walters (sophomore), Asher Salinas (sophomore), Rowe Williams (sophomore), Joshua Whitlock (senior), Jeffrey Hendrickson (senior) and Aiden Shank (sophomore). Event-fastest seed time of 3:26.10.

• Girls High Jump – Caitlyn Parsons (senior). Sixth-best seed mark of 5-0.0.

• Boys High Jump – Stryker Reed (sophomore). Fourth-best seed mark of 6-03.00

• Boys Pole Vault – Stryker Reed (sophomore). Ninth-best seed mark of 12-00.00.

• Girls Shot Put – Caitlyn Parsons (senior). Eighth-best seed mark of 33-11.00.

GRAFORD

• Boys 3200-Meter Run – Landon Cobb (junior). Third-fastest seed time of 10:14.29.

• Boys 1600-Meter Run – Landon Cobb (junior). Fifth-fastest seed time of 4:40.90.

STRAWN

• Girls Discus Throw – Milly Hughes (junior). Second-best seed mark of 135-11.

• Boys Discus Throw – Robert Freeman (senior). Event-best seed mark of 162-05; Alex Hughes (freshman). Third-best seed mark of 151-06.

• Boys Shot Put – Robert Freeman (senior). Fifth-best seed mark of 45-10.00.
