Suspect Evades Law Enforcement

According to Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, James Goodwin, a suspect who ran from law enforcement after being pulled over in his vehicle on Monday September 30th is still at large.

The community was made aware of the fleeing suspect that afternoon in a Facebook post made by Mineral Wells Police Department.

No more information was provided via social media and a follow up message this morning informed Mineral Wells Area News that the search was a concerted effort by MWPD and DPS after a traffic stop was initiated by a Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Deputy Goodwin provided the following statement regarding the traffic stop incident in Mineral Wells yesterday at approximately 2:56 PM:

“Deputies conducted a traffic stop at approximately 6100 US-180, and the violator’s vehicle drove into the parking lot of the Chevron located on US-180 on the east side of Mineral Wells and came to a stop. A female driver and a male passenger occupied the vehicle. The male subject abandoned the vehicle and fled from the deputy. The deputy gave chase; however, the male subject gained significant ground and was able to evade being detained. As of this email, the male subject has not been located. The incident is currently under investigation to determine the appropriate law enforcement action beyond the incident.”
