By DAVID MAY/Special to Mineral Wells Area News

FOLLETT – Stryker Reed ran for two touchdowns and threw another, and Gordon’s defense returned two fumbles for scores as the nation’s top-ranked six-man team rolled to a 53-8 road win Friday over the Follett Panthers.
The game ended at halftime because of the Texas six-man football 45-point rule.
The defending Class 1A-1 champs improved to 6-0 on the year. The ‘Horns have won 21 straight and 33 of their last 34 contests. Follett fell to 3-3 in the final non-district game for both teams.
It was another efficient offensive effort for Gordon, running just 12 plays for 165 yards (100 yards rushing on seven carries) and five touchdowns (four rushing, one passing). By contrast, the Panthers ran 44 offensive plays, producing 156 yards (117 yards rushing on 33 carries).
The ‘Horns put up 38 points on five touchdowns in the opening quarter. Ry Reed got things started with an 8-yard scoring run. Brayden Walters scored next from 25 yards out. Stryker Reed hit Asher Salinas for a 39-yard touchdown pass. Reed followed that with a 22-yard touchdown run.
Gordon’s next two touchdowns came on fumble returns. Rowe Williams recorded a 10-yard scoop-and-score to end the first-quarter scoring frenzy. Brayden Walters returned a fumble 55 yards for the ‘Horns first second-quarter score.
Follett running back David Meeks put the Panthers on the board with a 2-yard TD run to make it 46-8. Reed answered that with a 10-yard run and a point-after conversion for the final 53-8 margin.
Juan Cabrera converted three point-after kicks (worth two points in six-man) for Gordon while Salinas made two PAT kicks and failed on one.
Lingleville will visit Longhorns Stadium this Friday to open District 13-1A-1 action, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. The Cardinals are 1-3, having won their last game, 51-0, over Cranfills Gap two weeks ago before enjoying a bye week to prepare for Gordon.
