Warriors roll to big Homecoming win

On Homecoming Night, freshman quarterback Parker Dehls threw for four touchdowns and junior running back Hayden Yelverton rushed for three more as Community Christian School won Friday’s home conference game 53-6 over Hill County.
The win improved the Warriors’ season record to 6-4 and 1-2 in TAIAO District 3, putting them in second place.

Dehls was 8-of-10 passing for 142 yards. Aiden Snipes was the recipient of two of Dehls’ scoring throws, while River Bryan and Kayson Gaston had one each. With no interceptions, Dehls finished the game with a lofty quarterback rating of 160.4.
CCS rushed for 173 yards, with Yelverton racking up 115 of those on six carries with his three TDs. He tallied 139 all-purpose yards on the night. Senior back Jace Little rushed for 58 yards on four touches. He added 50 yards receiving and 20 more on an interception return.
Bryan led the Warriors defensively with 10 tackles, including for tackle for a loss.
The game was called at halftime under Texas six-man football rules.
This year’s Homecoming Queen is Miranda Belding. Little was named King.
CCS concludes its regular season Friday night hosting 3-1 Grayson Christian. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Optimist Field.
