Climber air lifted from Lake Mineral Wells after fall

Wednesday morning October 30th, not long after 10am, first responders were dispatched for a medical emergency at Lake Mineral Wells near Penitentiary Hollow, a well known area in the park for hiking & rock climbing.
Mineral Wells Fire & EMS Chief Ryan Dunn confirmed they were dispatched to the park for a fall that left a victim in critical condition and air lifted to a hospital in Ft Worth.
During the rescue, a local first responder was also hurt but Chief Dunn said he would be ok.
“We also had a firefighter injured during the rescue. The firefighter went to our local hospital for evaluation and a lower extremity injury,” said Dunn.
No further details were given and the only information that Park Rangers could confirm is that the accident happened near Penitentiary Hollow.
