Texas music legend Tommy Alverson left this world on November 14th after a courageous battle with cancer and soon friends and family will gather to celebrate his life and legacy.

Alverson will be remembered at an indoor campfire style gathering on Sunday December 15th at an event called “Toastin’ TA Round the Fire.” It will last from 4 to 8pm inside the Crazy Water Hotel which is located at 401 N Oak Ave in Mineral Wells and is a come and go event.

There will be a smokeless campfire to sit around for unplugged guitar pickin’ if anyone wants to play in TA’s honor. A cash bar will be available and Smokin’ 3C’s Bbq will have Tommy’s favorite food to fill your bellies. Rickhouse Brewery’s doors will also be open to serve up Tommy’s official beer known as Una Mas, which pays homage to one of his most famous songs.

A live microphone will be available for anyone wanting to say a few words to remember Tommy. The music will be unplugged & campfire style. Organizers ask that you bring your own camping chair and wear your favorite music festival campfire attire.

Alverson, who made Mineral Wells his home along with wife Amy and their two kids, leaves a trove of musical hits that are revered across Texas and beyond.

Tommy spent the last few years hosting “Wild Ass Wednesdays” at RickHouse Brewery and created a tight circle of local lovers of his music. The brewery recently announced that carrying on his midweek shenanigans at Alverson’s hometown hangout will be local singer songwriter Andie Kay Joyner.

“It is a big job to fill, but I am honored to continue as the host of his weekly mini “Family Gathering.” I hope to make him as proud as I am of him,” said Joyner in a recent social media post.

“To echo most of my friends, I still can’t believe he’s gone, but together, we will make sure his spirit and his music live on.”

Whether you are able to make his Campfire Celebration of his Life on December 15th or join the weekly shindig at the brewery, Alverson’s contribution to the legacy of Texas music scene will no doubt live on and on!
