Lady Rams bumped by Brownwood in district opener

Brock Lady Eagles are next up on Tuesday
The Mineral Wells Lady Rams had a rough start to district play Friday, falling 45-23 on their home floor to Brownwood.
The loss dropped Mineral Wells to 15-8 on the season and 0-1 in District 6-4A. The Lady Lions improved to 19-6, 1-0.
The Lady Rams made just 6-of-29 shots (21 percent) from inside the arc and went 3-of-15 (20 percent) on deep balls. Just two Mineral Wells players made it to the free throw line, going a combined 2-of-9 (22 percent).
The ladies turned the ball over 14 times while managing just five steals against the Lady Lions.


Sophomore guard Aniya Richardson canned 10 points for Mineral Wells, including two three-pointers. Junior post Emery Boswell just missed double figures in rebounds, collecting nine boards.
Mineral Wells will try to regain their shooting touch when the Brock Lady Eagles come to town for a 5:40 tip on Tuesday. Brock is 16-6, 1-0 after winning their district opener Friday against Stephenville, 62-46.
