The Mineral Wells Lady Rams are off to a rough start in District 6-4A action, struggling offensively for a second straight game at home Tuesday by falling to Brock, 35-19.
The loss dropped the Lady Rams to 15-9 on the season and 0-2 in district.
Mineral Wells entered district action on the heels of winning the Windthorst Tournament, but the offense has become as chilly as the weather as the ladies struggle to send the ball through the nets.

Against the Lady Eagles (17-6, 2-0) on Tuesday, the Lady Rams played well defensively in holding Brock to 35 points, making it a winnable game if the offense could put up points.
But that didn’t happen.
Mineral Wells made just six of 33 shots from the floor, including misses on too many close looks and opportunities. The Lady Eagles forced 21 Mineral Wells turnovers.
Senior guard Kahlea Samples had a team-high 8 points. She found herself in foul trouble that limited her through much of the second half. Addyson Moore dropped in 5 points, including the team’s lone made three-pointer. Aniya Richardson chipped in 4 points. Junior post Emery Boswell provided a basket but had another strong defensive effort pulling down 17 rebounds, seven of those from the offensive glass.
It doesn’t get easier this week. Mineral Wells is scheduled to face Glen Rose (24-2, 2-0), currently ranked third in Class 4A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. on the Lady Tigers’ home floor.
Gordon 84, Mineral Wells 40
Mineral Wells appeared to picking up some momentum with two tournament wins the week before New Years over Bellevue and Midway.
But their first two games in 2025 have seen the Rams drop games to Abilene and on Tuesday to Gordon as the visiting Longhorns picked up an 84-40 win.

The loss dropped the Rams to 4-18 on the year while Class 1A Gordon improved to 5-3 with their fifth win over a Class 4A team this season. The ‘Horns had a late start to their season as most of the team were winning their second-straight sixman football championship in mid-December.
Interim head coach Aaron Pappas will now lead his charges into district play on Friday, traveling to 17-6 Glen Rose for a 7 p.m. contest.
