Lady Rams sweep their way through home tourney

Harkins sparks first-game win with 6 RBIs against Alvarado

The Mineral Wells Lady Rams continued their dominance on Saturday, winning twice to sweep all six games of their hosted tourney and posting their 11th consecutive win.
The day began with third base phenom Kynlee Harkins collecting six RBIs to propel her team’s 18-2 romp over the Alvarado Lady Indians. She smacked a grand slam in the third inning then collected a two-RBI single in the fourth. She went 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring three times.

The Lady Rams opened the game with a five-run outburst in the first inning. Aubree Yowell doubled, scoring two runs, followed by a Scottie Denison triple that scored another run. Carsyn Presley also tripled, scoring two more runs.
Addy Moore struck an RBI single in the third inning before Harkins hit her grand slam to left field. An Alvarado error allowed another run to score. The Lady Indians committed seven miscues.
Mineral Wells continued to pour it on with a seven-run fourth inning. An error scored a run before Harkins delivered her 2-RBI single to left. Presley smacked her second triple of the game, bringing three more runs home to finish with four runs batted in.


Yowell also went 3-for-4 in the game with three RBIs and three runs scored. Karli Aaron also touched home plate three times. Emery Boswell also had a double.
Hailey McWhorter started and went the distance for Mineral Wells, allowing one hit, two walks and two unearned runs in four innings.
In Saturday’s second game, Breckenridge made things a little more interesting for the Lady Rams before Mineral Wells secured an 8-4 victory.
Yowell continued her big day with a first-inning triple to score a run and give Mineral Wells an early 2-0 lead. The Lady Buckaroos put up a run of their own in the first.
A three-run second inning for Mineral Wells was keyed by Aaron hitting into a fielder’s choice that resulted in an error, scoring two runs with Aaron landing on third. Aaron then went home on Harkins’ SAC fly.
Presley’s inside-the-park home run in the third inning put Mineral Wells on top 6-1.
Breckenridge refused to go quietly, scoring three times in the bottom of the frame to draw within 6-4.
The Lady Rams gave themselves some breathing room with two runs in the top of the fourth. Moore led off with a double, scoring on Aaron’s single into center field. With two outs, McMinn tripled to score Yowell, who had reached base on an error, one of six committed by Breckenridge.

McWhorter again started and went the distance, allowing two hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings. She fanned three and walked three.
Mineral Wells is now 11-1 on the year. In the six-game tourney, Mineral Wells outscored its opponents 72-15.
Alvord visits Kessler Field on Tuesday with a scheduled start of 5 p.m.
