Mineral Wells police executed a search warrant and arrested a 21-year-old man following reports of gunfire in a neighborhood on August 17.

According to police, dispatchers received multiple calls from residents near the 800 block of S.E. 18th Street who reported hearing several gunshots. Officers arrived in the area but were unable to locate anyone. Residents told investigators they heard the shots but did not see anything else. One person reported hearing a vehicle leave the area but could not provide a description.

As officers continued investigating, a person came forward stating two men inside the residence had begun shooting at them. The individual was not struck by gunfire but told police their vehicle was left with multiple bullet holes. Detectives determined there was evidence of a crime and began the process of securing a warrant for the residence.

The Mineral Wells Police Department enlisted assistance from the Parker County multi-jurisdictional SWAT team, which executed the search warrant around 10 p.m. on August 17. Officers said no one was inside the home when entry was made.

At the same time, police located the suspect, identified as Adam Gordley, in the 300 block of S.E. 19th Street. He was taken into custody without incident. Gordley was later booked into the Palo Pinto County Jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Chief Tim Denison said in a statement that more charges are likely.
