The Baker In A Fog
A fog bank rolled into Mineral Wells and settled in just below the hills early in the morning on April 3rd. Local postman Sam Waddy snapped this photo from atop Northwest Mountain. The Baker Hotel peeked like a castle above the fog as it enveloped “The Grand Ole Lady.”
The hotel is amid a multi-million dollar renovation that many hope will restore the community as a top tourist destination in Texas. No idea of a firm completion date but many suspect it won’t be before 2025. Investors are restoring the mammoth hotel to its original glory, but in the meantime, the historic Crazy Water Hotel has been renovated and reopened in 2021, and is quickly becoming the hub of downtown activities.
New signs and awnings were hung this week at The Crazy as it continues to attract visitors from all around. Between the fabulous shopping at Sensaology and Toytopia, enjoying a cold drink at Rickhouse Brewing or just getting a little pampered at Rockin Hair Body and Soul, hotel guests are offered many ways to enjoy their stay.
Soon another business will open in the newly renovated hotel and it’s sure to fill your belly. Stay tuned for details about a new eatery set to open this June.
