Rams leave Poolville with two-game win streak

After dropping their first three games of this past weekend’s Poolville Tourney, the Mineral Wells Rams turned it around and finished with two straight wins.

Mineral Wells (5-11) picked up wins over Victory Christian Academy, 44-42, in overtime and the Tolar Rattlers, 52-35, after tourney losses to Peaster, Bethesda Christian and Trinity Christian Academy.
The game against VCA was tight throughout. The Rams led 19-17 at the half and went into the fourth period up 27-24 before VCA outscored the Rams 15-12 in the fourth to send the game to overtime tied at 39. Preztynn Harrison made three free throws and senior guard Ryan Hunt canned a field goal as the Rams won the extra period, 5-3.

Hunt led the scoring effort, matching his jersey number with 15 points. He had six of the team’s eight first-quarter points that included four-of-five made free throws. He hit five shots from the floor to go with five made free throws.
Ben Bullock and Harrison scored nine points apiece, with Bullock nailing a deep three ball in the fourth period. Jordan Fisher netted eight points, including a three-pointer also coming in the fourth quarter. Jaidun Fisher had two points and Charlie Ramsay made the scoring sheet with a made free throw.
Mineral Wells played a more dominant game against Tolar as the Rams raced to a 30-19 halftime lead and led the Rattlers by 22 after three periods.
Harrison had 10 of the Rams’ 13 opening quarter points, canning four field goals and two free throws. He finished with a game-high 18 points.
Jaidun Fisher, Ramsay, Hunt, Jordan Fisher and Bullock each drained a tres. The deep shots made by Ramsey, Hunt and Bullock came in the Rams’ 17-point second quarter.
The Rams led the TCA Eagles for three quarters, taking a 47-38 lead into the final period. But TCA went on a tear, outscoring Mineral Wells 23-9 in the final frame to claim a 61-56 win. Harrison led the Rams with 15 points while Jaidun Fisher poured in 13 points.

Peaster raced out to a 27-10 first-quarter lead and never looked back, downing the Rams 64-46.
BCS held a 27-23 lead over the Rams at the half, but outscored Mineral Wells 36-21 in the second half for a 63-44 victory.
The Rams return home for a Tuesday night game against 14-1 Gainesville. The Leopards are ranked in the top 15 of Class 4A. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
