With the wins, the Lady Rams (14-9) have won four straight and seven of their last nine.

After wins Thursday over the host Lady Trojans and Chico Dragons, Mineral Wells squared off Friday morning against Jacksboro. The Lady Tigers gave Mineral Wells a battle, staking themselves to a 10-0 lead after the first period.

That is when Samples and her teammates went to work, battling back to take a 25-23 lead into the fourth quarter. The Lady Rams were unable to end it in regulation as both teams were knotted at 30 apiece.

Mineral Wells outscored the Lady Tigers 7-1 in overtime to take the 37-31 win.

Samples finished with 15 points, six rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots to lead the team. Colwell scored eight points while collecting four rebounds and four steals. Aniya Richardson added seven points, four rebounds and three steals. Caitlyn Colwell had five points and five boards, and Emery Boswell scored two to go with six rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot.

With the win, the Lady Rams would need a victory in the afternoon game against Vernon to claim the title, and they got it, edging the Lady Lions, 43-40.

Mineral Wells outscored Vernon 13-1 in the second period to take a 22-11 halftime lead. Vernon outscored the Lady Rams, 29-21, in the second half but it wasn’t enough as Mineral Wells secured the three-point win.

Cadence Colwell led the way with 13 points, including two made three-pointers. Richardson dropped in nine points and produced three steals. Jaylee Newman had six points. Caitlyn Colwell had five points with nine rebounds. Samples had four points, followed by two points each from Boswell, Hailey McWhorter and Rindy Carter.

Samples totaled 34 points in the four tourney games, hitting double digits twice. Cadence Colwell tallied 40 points in the tourney, also scoring in double digits twice.
