Lady Warriors Olivia Buchanan and Kendal Gill and Warriors Jonathan Blackburn and Price Horton were named to Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship first-team all-state basketball squads.

They also made all-district teams along with several Community Christian School teammates. Blackburn, a senior, was named TCAF District 5 offensive player of the year. His brother, junior David Blackburn, was named District 5 defensive player of the year and second-team all-state.

Jonathan Blackburn and fellow senior Horton led CCS to a TCAF Division II state championship last Monday, defeating Trinity Christian Academy (Paris), 77-60. Horton scored 27 points and was named MVP.

A 6-3 forward, Blackburn averaged a double-double for CCS, scoring 16.7 points per game (551) while hauling down 10.6 rebounds (350). He was second on the team in assists (162) and led in blocked shots (61).

While Blackburn dominated in the post, Horton was the catalyst from his point guard position. He led the Warriors in assists (184, 5.8 per game) and steals (142, 4.4 pg). Horton also led the team in three-point shot percentage (29%) and made free throws (65%).

David Blackburn and 6-4 eighth grader Josiah Marquez joined Jonathan Blackburn and Horton on the all-District 5 first team. Senior post Braden Maness and junior swingman Aiden Sipes were named all-district second team.

The Warriors finished the season with a 27-6 overall record.

Lady Warriors junior guard Gill led CCS (5-15) in scoring with 218 points on the year (14.5 ppg) steals (76, 5.1) and assists 55 (3.7 pg). She led the team in three-point field-goal percentage (33%) and free-throw percentage (58%).

Also a junior, guard/forward Buchanan led the team in rebounds (187, 8.5). She was second in scoring (202, 13.5 ppg). She led the team in made field goal percentage (33%).

Joining Gil and Buchanan on District 5 all-district first team was Anna Brown. Brown was named second-team all-state.

Kaelani Marquez and Ava Helmrick were named second-team all-district.
