STEPHENVILLE – Mineral Wells lefty Ben Bullock had a strong start for the Rams, going six innings and allowing three runs, two earned.
Stephenville starter Luke Heller was a little better, allowing just one hit while striking out 10 Rams batters as the Yellow Jackets claimed a 3-0 win Friday in Stephenville.
Bullock scattered single runs allowed in the second, fourth and sixth innings. He allowed six hits on the night while striking out five and issuing just two walks.
Unfortunately for the Rams, Heller was almost un-hittable. An Adrian Holifield single leading off the fourth kept Heller from tossing a no-hitter. Heller allowed three free passes.
Stephenville catcher Tanner Smith had three of the Yellow Jackets’ six hits, with an RBI and a run scored.
Enduring their third consecutive loss, and five in their last six, Mineral Wells falls to 5-13-1 on the year and 1- 3 in District 6-4A action. On Tuesday, a third straight road trip takes them to Brownwood to face the first-place Lions (15-4, 4-0). First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
