Charity for Charities!!!

Nestled amongst the trees the hosting venue was named for, about 100 people settled into a beautiful metal building in Palo Pinto last weekend to raise money for many organizations who help breathe life into the County in a multitude of ways.

It’s said that it takes a village to raise a kid (or even a community) and fortunately for many nonprofit organizations who pour into local people and causes, The Brazos Foundation is a huge part of their success.

Their 501c3 mission is to raise money for local charities and every year in August, The Brazos Foundation takes applications from any local nonprofit who wants a shot at available grant money.

Several years after the foundation was established in 1989, the Board of trustees began hosting an annual “Jubilee” event to raise funds for their cause, which has become their only fundraiser. The charitable evening includes dining, dancing, a raffle drawing, as well as bidding on various auction items.

Items in this year’s live auction included a family vacation package to a luxury ski resort in Colorado, a Mexican beach vacation in Cabo, a week long stay at a high end lake house on Possum Kingdom and guided canoe trip along the Brazos River, amongst other things.

The event also serves as a celebration of the winners who were chosen through the foundation’s application process to receive grant funding. This year’s Jubilee, a Black and White themed soirée, was held at The Oaks on October 5th where nine organizations were awarded various amounts of grants totaling $106,000.

Winners of the 2024 monies included Mineral Wells Senior Center, Mineral Wellness Center, Grace House Ministries, MW Ram Band Fan Club, Charlie’s Angels Senior Center/Mobile Meals, Texas Frontier Trails, Envision Mineral Wells/Wagley Dog Park, Merry Wells and City of Strawn.

This year’s Jubilee was even more special than years past as board trustees announced an impressive milestone the organization achieved at their 2024 event. Since The Brazos Foundation’s inception, the charity has contributed over $1 Million to local organizations who serve Palo Pinto County.

Board Trustees include Cody Cloud, Jeff Hinkson, Brittany Brown, Jacye Smith, Kay Tarkenton, Torie Kent, Shelley Hartley, Brian Bennett, Chloe Wharton, Tiffany Montgomery, Sue Cathey and Mike McConnell.

The Brazos Foundation is no doubt making a huge impact in the community with their mission to help fund local nonprofits.
