Mineral Wells Names New City Manager
Mineral Wells City Council selects Navasota’s Jason Weeks as next city manager

MINERAL WELLS, TEXAS — Mineral Wells Mayor Regan Johnson announced today that the City Council has selected Jason Weeks as Mineral Wells’ new city manager.
Currently the city manager in Navasota, Weeks brings more than two decades of municipal
finance and leadership experience to Mineral Wells. Before his tenure in Navasota, he served as
assistant city manager for La Porte, Texas.
Weeks will replace Dean Sullivan, who signaled his intention to retire during summer budget talks after 3 years as city manager and a decade as police chief.
In August, the council formed a
subcommittee to spearhead the search. The committee reviewed dozens of applications from across Texas and the United States before conducting online and video interviews. The process
culminated in onsite interviews with four finalists in November.
“Even though we had a fantastic pool of candidates, the Council reached consensus on the best
choice for Mineral Wells quickly,” Mayor Regan Johnson said. “Jason’s broad experience in diverse city organizations, his financial skills, and his commitment to cultivating leaders within all our departments really stood out.”
Johnson said this is an exciting time for Mineral Wells, and expects this to be a seamless transition.
“So much of what Jason will be starting with is thanks to everything Dean and his team have pushed forward over the last three years. Not only are we at the brink of construction on Turkey Peak Reservoir, but we have also begun implementing our forward-looking plans for land use, parks, and the Mineral Wells Regional Airport,” stated Mayor Johnson.
Weeks is married to Rhonda, and together they have 3 adult sons. He is a member of state and national city management organizations and is actively involved in community organizations. He is tentatively slated to take the helm in Mineral Wells in late January.
“My wife and I are excited to make Mineral Wells our home,” Weeks said. “I’m equally excited to be part of the Mineral Wells team that takes the organization and community to the next level.”
