Bill Joel, ZZ Top, Queen and David Bowie have performed classic songs about pressure. The Mineral Wells Lady Rams experienced it Friday night in Stephenville.

A relentless press by the Honey Bees overwhelmed the Lady Rams as Stephenville claimed a 53-20 win. 

The loss dropped Mineral Wells’ season record below .500 at 15-16 and 0-9 in the tough District 6-4A. The Lady Rams close their season Tuesday at home hosting Graham with one last chance to notch a district win. The Lady Blues will enter the game with a 1-8 district mark and 11-20 season record.

Graham took a 40-30 home court win over Mineral Wells two weeks ago.

The Lady Rams failed to score in double figures in any quarter Friday. They played the first period close, trailing just 9-5. The game got away in the second frame as Stephenville outscored Mineral Wells, 17-6, to carry a 25-11 lead into halftime.

It continued to be all Honey Bees in the second half.

Mineral Wells guard Addyson Moore scored nearly half of the team’s points with 9, including making the lone trey as Mineral Wells was 1-of-11 from the top.

Junior post Emery Boswell had a pair of field field goals paired with eight rebounds.

Overall the Lady Rams made just seven of 28 shots from the floor and were 5-of-12 from the stripe. Eighteen turnovers added to their woes.

Stephenville tops Rams

The Mineral Wells Rams didn’t fare any better against the host Yellow Jackets, losing 62-32 on Friday.

The Rams’ record fell to 1-6 in District 6-4A and 5-24 on the season. Mineral Wells has three contests remaining on the schedule. Stephenville improved to 22-7 and 5-2.

Graham comes to Mineral Wells for Tuesday’s scheduled 7 p.m. tip.
