EF-3 Tornado Damages Northeast Mineral Wells; Curfew Remains in Effect as Recovery Begins

MINERAL WELLS, Texas — An EF-3 tornado tore through northeast Mineral Wells on the evening of April 28, leaving a path of significant destruction and prompting an ongoing emergency response across the area.

According to the City of Mineral Wells, the National Weather Service confirmed the tornado rating following the storm. Homes and businesses in the impacted corridor sustained heavy damage, with some structures completely destroyed.
Five injuries have been reported in connection with the storm. Two individuals were transported by ambulance, while three others sought medical care by personal vehicle. Officials reported no critical injuries.


A curfew remains in effect for the impacted area as emergency operations continue. This marks the second consecutive evening the curfew has been imposed to help ensure public safety and allow crews to work without interference. The restricted zone includes areas bounded by NE 4th Avenue (Country Club Estates) to the west, U.S. Highway 180 to the south, Washington Avenue to the east, and Beleta Drive to the north. Curfew hours are set nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice.

Road closures remain in place throughout the damaged areas, with officials urging the public to avoid travel near impacted zones to allow first responders and utility crews to continue their work.
Relief efforts are underway across the community. The American Red Cross has established a shelter at First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells for residents displaced by the storm. The Mineral Wells Center of Life is accepting tangible donations to support those affected.




Monetary donations are also being directed to the Mineral Wells Disaster Relief Fund, managed by the Envision Mineral Wells Foundation.
City officials say cleanup and damage assessments are ongoing, with additional updates expected as recovery efforts continue.
