Freda Joyce Brewer Parks, age 80, of Iowa Park, Texas, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and savior, Jesus, Monday night, June 22, 2026 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

A celebration of Freda’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026, at First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

A memorial visitation for family and friends will be held in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Freda was born Wednesday, August 29, 1945, in Mineral Wells, Texas, to Fred Watson Brewer and Reva Mae Burrell Brewer.

She graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1963. As a schoolgirl, Freda was a member of the “Rainbow Girls”, where she was very active, even going as far as becoming a multi-state representative for areas from Texas to Tennessee. Freda always kept her Mineral Wells roots close, attending class reunions and other events regularly.

Freda and Larry Wayne Parks were married February 2, 1964, in Mineral Wells.

She and Larry moved to Iowa Park in December of 1974 where she became a very active member of the First United Methodist Church for fifty-two years.  Freda served on numerous committees in the church, but most notably in the United Methodist Women.  She was also a member of the Spares and Pairs and Wings Sunday School Classes.  Freda enjoyed teaching vacation bible school, singing in the choir and playing hand bells with the Anderson Ringers.

Freda worked as a substitute teacher and in the school cafeteria for a short while, but her most notable job in life was being a devoted mother to her two boys, Kevin and Cody, whom she loved dearly.

She made many lifelong friends throughout her lifetime and was always one of the first to volunteer her time. She had a strong love for Jesus and wanted others to know him and his love and how he could change your life, if you would just open your hearts and allow him to.

Freda is survived by her two sons, Kevin Wayne Parks and James Cody Parks and wife, Lisa, all of Iowa Park; five grandchildren, James Colten Parks and wife, Alysan, Darcie Crane and husband, Zac, Wade Duggins, Garrison Bodkin and Lyla Bodkin; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ann Overstreet and husband, James of Woodville, Texas, Sherry Pilgrim and husband, Mike of Denton and Candy Parker of Grand Saline, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, Fred Watson Brewer and Reva Mae Burrell Brewer Glover; and her loving husband of fifty-two years, Larry Wayne Parks.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Beyond Faith Hospice, 1702 Kell West Blvd., Wichita Falls, Texas 76301.
