Mineral Wells library plans Homecoming mum craft events for teens, children

Homecoming season is approaching in Mineral Wells, and the library is helping local students get into the spirit with two opportunities to create their own mini Homecoming mums.
The first event, Teen Scene Craft Night, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. Teens are invited to create mini mums, with supplies provided by the library.
A second Kids Craft Day will be held Thursday, Sept. 17 at 4:30 p.m., giving younger children an opportunity to make their own mini mums.
The Kids Craft Day is free, and all supplies will be provided. Supplies are limited, however, and crafts will be available on a first-come basis while supplies last.
The events come ahead of Mineral Wells High School’s Homecoming on Friday, Sept. 25. The Mineral Wells Junior High Homecoming game is set for Tuesday Sept, 21, which is also the day of the Homecoming Parade and “bonfire.”
Homecoming mums have long been a Texas tradition, evolving from simple chrysanthemum corsages into elaborate displays of school colors, ribbons and decorations. The library’s mini versions give local children and teens a chance to take part in the tradition while showing their Ram pride.
