Ginger Gayle Prestwood Obituary

12:02 2026

Ginger Gayle Davidson-Prestwood, 83, beloved mother and lovingly known as Granny to her grandchildren, was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Sunday, February 14, 1943, and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 11, 2026, in Weatherford, Texas.

Ginger was the oldest daughter of four children. She was raised in Bellevue, TX and graduated valedictorian from high school in 1961 and studied interior design at the University of Texas. She met the love of her life at a high school basketball game, Donald “Jerry”, Prestwood and they were married on February 10th, 1962.

One of her favorite past times was caring for and planting plants and flowers, all seasons of the year, inside and outside; she had a “green thumb.” She was a decorator at heart and could make beautiful flower arrangements, ornamental wreaths, bows, and painted ceramics. She was also a seamstress and made her kids clothes when they were young.

She would open her home and kitchen at any given time for an impromptu poster party, unexpected school friends, bible studies and more. She was an amazing cook and baker and wanted to make sure you were fed. She loved to sing in the church choir and could sing any hymn without the hymnal.

She is survived by her daughter Hope Flint and husband Ervin of Aledo, TX. Son, Chad Prestwood and wife Jaime of Aledo, TX. Grandchildren Jacoby Prestwood and wife Kali of Irving, TX and their daughter Molly. Zach Prestwood of Aledo, TX and Macy Prestwood of Aledo, TX. Her sister Sandra Jowers and husband Mike of Carlsbad, NM, brother Joe Davidson of Byers, TX, and brother Jay Davidson and wife Marla of Decatur, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Prestwood, her parents Milton Nance and Nathalee Davidson, her sisters-in-law Donna Davidson and Joan Fox and her husband Bill, and her nephew Coby Nance Davidson.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2026 at the First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, Texas.

“Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength, they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
