A longtime local favorite is getting national attention as America’s Best Restaurants brings its popular Roadshow to Woody’s Bar & Grill on Friday, Oct. 23.
The restaurant, located at 6105 U.S. Highway 180, has been serving the Mineral Wells area for 75 years and is known for its burgers, laid-back atmosphere and deep roots in the community.
America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and restaurant marketing company, travels the country highlighting independently owned restaurants and the stories behind their success.
During the scheduled visit, the production team will interview Woody’s owner and chef Taylor Oliver about the restaurant’s history, its loyal customers and what makes Woody’s a local institution.
A Mineral Wells Tradition
Woody’s history is closely tied to the days when military pilots trained at nearby Fort Wolters.
Situated along the Palo Pinto and Parker county line, Woody’s became a popular gathering spot for military personnel. Its unique location also allowed the restaurant to serve cold beer at a time when Parker County was dry.
Over the decades, Woody’s has remained true to its roots, offering a simple menu centered around its signature burgers, cooked on a flattop grill directly behind the bar.
That tradition continues to attract longtime regulars and first-time visitors alike.
Oliver expressed excitement about sharing Woody’s story with a national audience.
“We were so excited to have ABR reach out to us to be featured on the show! We look so forward to all the Woody’s first timers but not last timers we will see after the airing of the episode. We are ready to be your new tasty hobby!” Oliver said in the announcement.
The upcoming episode is expected to showcase some of Woody’s popular menu items, including its double double burger with add-ons, along with chips and jalapeños.

Bringing Local Restaurants Into the Spotlight
America’s Best Restaurants has filmed more than 2,000 episodes featuring independently owned restaurants across the country.
The company shares its restaurant features through social media, its website and YouTube, giving local establishments an opportunity to reach audiences beyond their communities.
The Woody’s episode will premiere at a later date, with the release date to be announced through the restaurant’s Facebook page and America’s Best Restaurants’ digital platforms.
