In late August, MWPD took 22 reports for Burglary of Vehicles, mostly in the Northwest quadrant of the community. Officers began developing leads and eventually identified a person of interest for the burglaries.

Dean Sullivan, Chief of MWPD, wrote in a press release that on Tuesday November 8, an officer stopped a pedestrian in the 200 block of NW 23rd Street and soon realized it was the person of interest in the recent burglaries. The officer attempted to detain the suspect, Frankie Joe King, but he would not comply.

“Mr. King resisted the officers attempts and a struggle ensued,” wrote Sullivan. “During the struggle, a small caliber hand gun fell from Mr. King’s waistband. Mr. King was then placed into handcuffs,” according to Sullivan.

The Press Release said that Mr. King also advised that he had another gun in his backpack. Also found in the backpack was evidence from other burglaries that had been reported to MWPD.

Frankie Joe King was arrested and charged with Theft of a Firearm, Unlawful Carry of a Weapon, and Resting Arrest.

As the investigation continued, and property returned to its rightful owners, there were additional charges filed against Mr. King for Theft of a Firearm($750<$2500), Criminal Trespass and Burglary of a Vehicle. King is currently being held in the Palo Pinto County Jail.

The investigation is on going and additional charges may be filed. We encourage anyone has any information on Mr. King’s recent activities to please contact the MWPD CID Unit at(940) 328-7770 or the Palo Pinto County Crime Stoppers at (940)325-0000.
